Director, NYC Architecture Program
In addition to her role as coordinator of the Syracuse Architecture NYC program, Angela Co is an assistant professor of architecture, teaching both vertical design studios and professional elective courses. She is also a principal of Co-LeCavalier, a design studio concerned with transforming everyday life at a range of scales, including furniture, buildings, and urban design. She was the recipient of the 2011-12 Arnold W. Brunner Rome Prize Fellowship in Architecture, and spent 11 months at the American Academy in Rome researching the Baroque city and constructing large balloon domes and donuts.
Outside of Co+LeCavalier, Co has worked on both theoretical and built projects in the offices of Bernard Tschumi Architects and Asymptote Architecture. She holds a Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University’s GSAPP and dual bachelor degrees in architecture and computer science from the University of Pennsylvania.
Xiaoyin (Shell) Li
Xiaoyin Li joined the NYC Architecture team at Fisher Center Fall, 2014. In addition to coordinating the NYC curriculum and public events with Slocum Hall, she also teaches the Survey of NYC Architecture course at the center.
Xiaoyin acquired her B.A. in Architecture from the University of California - Berkeley, and an M.A. in Architecture from the University of Kentucky - College of Design. She was a Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship Recipient while at UC Berkeley and a Graduate Scholarship Recipient at UK/COD. As a graduate student at UK/COD, Xiaoyin served as a Teaching Assistant for the Louisville Water Innovation Studio under Visiting Prof. Elodie Nourrigat and the Taipei Office Studio under Assistant Prof. Angela Co. Xiaoyin has previously worked in China and in the US with YWS Architects, alt32 Architecture & Design, and EOP Architects.
Director, Tepper Semester in NYC

Lisa Nicholas has overseen the development of the Tepper Semester—a full-semester immersion experience for drama students in New York City—since 2005. The program grew from the Tepper Center for Careers in Theater at Syracuse University, which launched in 2001 and was also headed by Nicholas.
She recently established a partnership with the Casting Society of America and, in collaboration, they launched the first casting concentration training program in the United States. Nicholas served as cultural liaison for the NYC Architecture program for four years, programming a wide array of cultural site visits in NYC each semester. She is currently the creative director of development for the Araca Project. She is a member of Actors Equity Association and SAG-AFTRA.
Administrative Specialist, Tepper Semester
David Charles joins the Tepper Semester as the Administrative Specialist. In this position, Charles is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Tepper Semester Program, supporting the Program Director, faculty, and students, and serving as the primary administrative interface with the main campus administrative staff and the Fisher Center facility manager. David is the primary facilities liaison for all classes, programs, and activities, including scheduling and logistics. He also directs the business and clerical functions of the Program, including: budget preparation, budget analysis, accounts payable, payroll and related reconciliation. David is a proud associate member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
Cheryl Brody Franklin
Director, Newhouse in NYC

For the last five years, Cheryl Brody Franklin was an editor at InStyle.com and is currently a contributing style editor at People magazine. After graduating summa cum laude from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, where she majored in magazine journalism and Spanish, she started her career as an editorial assistant at JANE magazine, then worked at CosmoGirl. She was a blogger for Glamour.com’s relationship blog, Smitten, and she has written for Time Out New York, Allure.com, Luckymag.com and Travel + Leisure, where she was an ASME (American Society of Magazine Editors) intern.
In addition to her role as the director of the full-semester Newhouse in NYC program, Brody Franklin is also the vice president of Ed2010, a volunteer networking and mentoring organization committed to helping aspiring and junior-level editors reach their dream magazine jobs.
David Major joins the Fisher Center as the new Facilities Manager. In this position Major is responsible for all aspects of managing operations for the Center including scheduling space, coordinating the support of all programs and activities, supervising staff in day-to-day operations of the facility, and addressing all scheduled and emergency maintenance issues. An alumnus of Syracuse University’s College of Arts and Sciences Major briefly worked for the University Art Collection upon graduating. He went on to pursue a career in the New York art world where he worked at Robert Miller Gallery, De Buck Gallery and Spanierman Gallery among others. David is excited to be part of the Fisher Center team and feels he has now “returned home” to Syracuse University.
