    Frequently Asked Questions

    Q. I haven’t been back to campus in a long time. Where should I go first when I arrive?
    A. The Office of Alumni Engagement welcomes all alumni back to Syracuse University and will provide you with maps, directions, and suggestions on what you might like to see. The office is located on the third floor of the Goldstein Alumni and Faculty Center at 401 University Place (between Bird Library and Watson Hall). Stop by or contact them in advance at sualums@syr.edu or 800.SUALUMS (800.782.5867).

    Q. My son/daughter is applying to the University. Is admissions consideration given to family legacies?
    A. The Admissions Committee welcomes a family tradition at the University and gives every possible consideration to the children of alumni. However, it is important that applicants meet all the admissions requirements as outlined in the application for admission. In addition, the Admissions Committee recommends that all prospective applicants have a personal interview on campus, at the Lubin House in NYC, or in other locations in metropolitan NYC.

    Q. Are there ways an alum can assist the Admissions Office in recruiting prospective students?
    A. The Alumni Representative Program is a volunteer organization for recent graduates who are looking to share their experiences of and enthusiasm for their alma mater. Representatives work with the Office of Admissions to recruit prospective students at college fairs and other activities. For more information or to volunteer, contact Amparo Silva, associate director, at 212.826.0335 or e-mail aasilva@syr.edu.

    Q. Are there ways for alumni to assist current students with their career selections?
    A. Students and new graduates can gain great insight into potential career paths by talking with experienced alumni. To offer your perspective and wisdom to New York-based career and professional networking programs, contact Dan Klamm. To become involved with University-wide career programs and campus events, contact Kim Brown. You should also join ’CuseConnect, a LinkedIn group designed to help students connect with alumni for professional guidance and advice.

    Q. The company I work for has employment opportunities I think would be of interest to SU graduates. How do I let the University know about them?
    A. Alumni wishing to offer positions to current SU students or other SU alumni can post their internships or full-time opportunities on Syracuse University’s web-based database, OrangeLink, as well as ’CuseConnect. There are also a variety of ways to raise awareness of employment opportunities with your organization through campus and NYC-based events. To get started, contact Shannon Feeney Andre.

    Q. How do I request a copy of my transcript?
    A. Transcripts of coursework completed at Syracuse University are available free of charge from the Registrar’s Office on campus. Complete instructions are available on the Registrar’s website.

    Q. As a Syracuse alum, am I able to host events at Lubin House?
    A. Alumni are welcome to hold meetings or events at Lubin House. However, the events must be sponsored by an SU school or department, with the main target audience being SU alumni and friends.
